Alison Purkiss, Director

Phlebotomy Training Services (PTS) was founded in July 2007 by Alison Purkiss (Cert Ed). Alison is a phlebotomist of over 10 years exoerience who has worked in hospitals and GP practices across the NHS as well as taking bloods for a range of private clients.

Alison is an expert in venepuncture and cannulation, and is also a trained teacher. Alison earned her Certificate in Education in September 1995. Alison wrote the first phlebotomy courses to be educationally accredited by a UK awarding body, the Open College Network North East Region, PTS are proud to still offer the only educationally accredited phlebotomy training courses in the UK. Alison Purkiss is the Founder of PTS and Managing Director she is responsible for writing and developing courses and developing the business and still teaches courses from time to time.

I qualified as a pharmacist in 1993 and have worked in the hospital, community and prison service sectors.



I left "employed" pharmacy in 2004 to set up PL-UK Recruitment after receiving very poor service from many pharmacy locum agencies. I reasoned that I could do it much more professionally than current agencies and have gone on to become a preferred supplier to most of the major multiple pharmacy operators, independent pharmacies and more recently the only pharmacy specialist supplier on the NHS Buying Solutions framework agreement for the supply of AHP and HSS staff (which includes pharmacy)


I am, therefore really excited by the opportunity to try to replicate this success with the launch of Phlebotomy Personnel and I feel that the combination of recruitment experience and Alison’s phlebotomy expertise will mean that we will provide our clients and candidates with an unrivalled level of service in the UK.
